Shavuot 5769/2009

I’d like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and offers of support on my appointment as shul
chairman.

Leonie joins me in thanking the community for the beautiful ‘yadayim’ cup that was presented
to me on the occasion of my recent retirement as warden, having served for fifteen years.
Have a look at this web link to read the last blog: http://www.barnetsynagogue.org.uk/blog.html

Here’s an update on what’s going on in the shul:

Rabbi Lerer, Naomi and the boys will not be with us for Shavuot as they are in Israel for two
family celebrations. Our scholar in Residence for this chag will be Rabbi Jeremy Bruce who
will be in Barnet with his wife, Jo, and their family.

Eran Wieder, our youth director since September 2006, has given notice that he’s leaving us at
the end of the summer. So, with the help of Tribe, we have begun the process of finding a
replacement for him. I’ll keep you updated on what progress we’re making.

The new board of management held its first meeting and everyone is now getting on with the
job of running the shul (that’s what politicians say isn’t it?)

Lastly for now – there are some remedial building works going on at the back of the shul. This
may impact on our use of the building over the coming month. I apologise if anyone is
inconvenienced.
